After going back and forth on whether to enroll, I ultimately decided to join the IHG Ambassador program. With over 260,000 IHG points already in my account, Diamond Elite status, and a membership cost of only 45,000 points, it seemed like a worthwhile investment.
This summer, I have stays planned at five different InterContinental properties across Europe, and I am particularly interested in seeing how valuable the room upgrade benefit turns out to be. Based on the program terms, it appears that upgrades can move guests into a higher room category rather than simply providing a similar room on a better floor or with a different view.
I have already redeemed the complimentary weekend night benefit at InterContinental Lisbon. After comparing room categories, the upgraded room option appeared to offer significantly more space and value, with the cash difference exceeding €600 at the time of booking.
I am also considering trying InterContinental Paris Le Grand later this year. With a new Chase Sapphire Reserve card and access to additional hotel credits and benefits, I am hoping to maximize the value of these upcoming stays.
I will report back after the trips and share whether joining Ambassador was worth it. In the meantime, I would love to hear about other travelers’ positive or negative experiences with the program.
