I recently flew from Leeds to Bucharest and back on Ryanair and wanted to share a few incidents that stood out, mainly because of how difficult it seemed for the cabin crew to manage them.
The flights themselves were on time and otherwise fine, but there were repeated situations involving passenger behaviour that caused issues.
On one flight, a passenger refused to sit down while the aircraft was still taxiing and the seatbelt sign was on. Another passenger even stood up to access overhead luggage while the plane was accelerating for takeoff, and the crew had to repeatedly instruct her to sit down.
There was also a case where someone was sitting in a friend’s assigned seat and refused to move even after being told by the crew that the aircraft would not depart until it was resolved.
The most serious situation involved a passenger refusing to fasten his seatbelt during landing while seated in an emergency exit row. He needed a seatbelt extender and was told that was not permitted in that seat. He initially moved but later returned to the seat for landing and again refused to comply with instructions to move. Cabin crew had to repeatedly intervene before he eventually complied, which delayed the situation and clearly frustrated the crew.
It honestly made me feel bad for the staff having to deal with this level of non compliance, especially during critical phases of flight.
Has anyone else noticed more of these kinds of incidents on certain routes or is this just occasional bad luck?
