I wish I had checked here earlier. I received a WhatsApp message that looked legitimate and included my correct reservation details. It asked me to confirm the booking and enter credit card information.
I did it, but right after submitting the details I got an error page and realized it was likely a scam.
I immediately contacted my credit card company to report it and also informed the hotel. I’ve also reached out to my upcoming reservations directly to avoid using Booking.com and to arrange direct payment with the properties instead.
I’m really frustrated that I fell for this and concerned about Booking.com security issues after reading similar reports.
