Saw a wild story from someone who got stuck in Dubai with their family when flights started getting disrupted because of the Iran conflict. What was supposed to be a simple one day layover turned into several days of uncertainty with their Emirates flight getting pushed back over and over.
After four days of waiting with no clear updates, they decided to leave the UAE by land instead of waiting for flights.
They took a taxi from Dubai to the UAE Oman border near Fujairah, cleared exit immigration, walked about a kilometer across the border, got a visa on arrival in Oman, then grabbed a taxi straight to Muscat Airport. From there they flew Muscat to Mumbai and then continued back toward the U.S.
Definitely not cheap, but they said it was worth it just to keep moving instead of waiting around while flights were still uncertain.
