FAA cutting 10% of flights nationwide during government shutdown

The FAA just announced it’s cutting air traffic by 10% across 40 major airports starting Friday morning. They say it’s to maintain safety since controllers have been working unpaid, short-staffed, and exhausted during the shutdown.

Airlines like United, Southwest, and American are trying to limit the impact, but thousands of flights could be affected. No list yet of which airports are included, that comes Thursday.

FAA says it’s a precaution before things “reach a crisis point,” but this could mean serious delays or cancellations heading into the weekend
