I’m a first-time poster sharing my recent experience seeking medical care in China.
I had mild pain in my tailbone area that worsened after a long 16-hour flight. Since I have a high-deductible insurance plan in my home country, I was hesitant to visit a doctor there due to the potential cost of imaging and consultation.
While traveling in China, I decided to visit a local hospital after hearing about how efficient the system can be. Booking an appointment was simple through a mobile app, and even though I arrived late, I was still seen without issue.
The process was very fast. I was directed to a consultation room, quickly referred for X-rays, and sent to radiology where I was called within minutes. The results were reviewed immediately by the doctor.
The diagnosis was that there was no bone issue, and the pain was likely due to inflammation caused by posture. I was given basic treatment advice and a prescription cream, which I was able to collect quickly from the pharmacy inside the hospital using QR code instructions.
From arrival to departure, the entire visit took around 30–35 minutes.
Total costs were:
Registration: ¥25.30
Consultation and X-ray: ¥64
Prescription: ¥48.87
Although I paid full price as a foreigner without insurance, I was still offered a discount, which I declined due to paperwork.
