Bought a United ticket from SFO to TPE through Expedia for about $1300 and added their price drop protection for another $64.
A little later I get an email from Expedia saying “you’re getting $833 back.” Great, right? I take the flight as planned.
After the trip, I get another email saying my price drop protection was canceled.
I call Expedia and they tell me the protection was canceled because I canceled my trip. I absolutely did not cancel anything. United’s app never showed a cancellation at any point, and I flew the ticket.
Instead of the $833 they emailed me about, Expedia only refunded the $64 for the protection itself.
This feels extremely fishy. Almost like they marked something as canceled on their end to avoid paying out the price drop. Has anyone else dealt with this? Curious if this is a known issue or if I’m just getting completely screwed here.
