This is one of those situations that makes you swear off third party sites forever.
Booked a package on Expedia. Like I always do, I called the hotel to confirm. Hotel tells me they don’t even work with Expedia and have zero record of my reservation.
I call Expedia. They admit it’s an issue on their end and tell me they’ll cancel the trip and refund me. While I’m on the phone, the trip gets canceled through “MY ACCOUNT.”
Then I get transferred to a higher level rep… who tells me I canceled it myself and therefore they can’t refund the accommodation.
So let me get this straight. They acknowledge the mistake, cancel it on their side, and then use that same cancellation to deny the refund. Absolute nonsense.
Luckily I checked before showing up with nowhere to stay, but the whole thing feels incredibly shady. Lesson learned. I’m done booking hotels through Expedia.
