Executive Platinum and still getting charged for bags at the desk… what’s going on?

That would drive me crazy.


If you’re Exec Plat, the system absolutely should show 3 free bags up to 70lbs. You shouldn’t have to argue every single time. That’s one of the main perks of flying that much.


My guess is it’s either a system glitch or the reservation not correctly reflecting your AAdvantage number. Sometimes if the number isn’t attached properly, the baggage allowance doesn’t auto populate. But if you’re seeing your status on the boarding pass, then it makes even less sense.


I don’t think it’s about “looking the part.” Desk agents go by what the system shows, not vibes.


If this is happening often, I’d probably call the Executive Platinum desk and ask them to look at a couple of the past PNRs to see why the baggage benefit didn’t apply automatically. At that frequency of travel, you really shouldn’t be needing a supervisor every week.


Anyone else seen this happen consistently?
