Sitting on my connection out of DEN right now, still kind of stunned at what happened.
My flight from SAN was about an hour late, but I still made it to the next gate before boarding started. When I pulled up the UA app though, my business seat was gone.
For context: I’m GS and had already confirmed an upgrade with points two days ago. I even have the email from United confirming it. But in the 5–6 minutes it took me to walk between gates, the system dropped me and gave my seat to another GS.
The gate agent was super nice and professional, even called a supervisor, but basically said the system did it automatically and there was nothing they could do once it reassigned. They moved me to Economy Plus with no neighbor and gave me some flight credits, which was appreciated — but man, what a letdown after thinking I was set in business.
Anyone else seen this happen? Like, a confirmed upgrade just disappearing and agents being powerless because SHARES decided otherwise?
