Europe bans hand luggage fees- why can't we do this in the US?

Honestly, I have a massive respect to the EU for finally putting a stop to the hand luggage fee scam. Being able to bring carry-on up to 7kg and a personal item without extra charges should’ve be all along. Meanwhile in the US, we’re still getting nickel-and-dimed to death for overhead space like it's some kind of luxury real estate.

If Europe can legislate this, why not us, imagine not having to game the system every time you fly with just a backpack. It’s wild that fairness in air travel feels like a foreign concept here.

Sure, airlines might hike base fares a bit, but at least the pricing will be more transparent. Anyone think this might force US carriers to rethink their baggage hustle?
