Lifetime Titanium here, and this was my first year not sticking to Marriott (or Delta). Honestly? Travel has been way more fun. I didn’t avoid Marriott on purpose, but whenever something looked better especially for personal trips, I just booked that instead.
As an Amex Platinum FHR/THC guest, the service has been noticeably better. I’ve been upgraded every stay, and we’ve been trying more boutique places so everything feels fresh instead of the same cookie-cutter rooms.
Still loyal to Marriott in India because the service there is next-level, but overall the tradeoff has been worth it. Fewer points, better trips.
