Feels like every month another airline’s dialing back A380s. Now Emirates is dropping one of its Gatwick A380 flights for a 777, following Qatar and Singapore’s similar moves. Part of me gets it the 777 is cheaper to run and easier to fill, especially on routes that aren’t London Heathrow or JFK. But I’ll miss the novelty of seeing those double-deck giants lined up at the gate.
Think we’ll ever see a true successor to the A380, or is this just how the industry’s gonna roll from now on?
