Saw a pretty interesting experience someone shared flying Emirates from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City via Dubai earlier this month.
Because of rerouting around Iran, the first leg took much longer and they automatically moved the connecting flight to the next day. The passenger booked a hotel themselves just in case, but things got even more interesting after landing.
When the flight arrived near Dubai, the airport temporarily closed and they had to divert to DWC. After landing, Emirates put everyone on buses, sent them to a hotel (Copthorne Airport Hotel), provided rooms, food, and had a service desk there to reissue boarding passes for the next day.
They even cancelled the hotel they had booked themselves since Emirates handled everything.
In the end they got two transfers, hotel, meals, and the rebooked flight without paying anything extra. Considering all the disruption, that’s actually pretty impressive service.
