I recently returned to Toronto from Dubai and wanted to share a quick update for anyone who may be nervous about traveling there or about the overall travel process.
My flight departed at 1:30 AM, and the airport experience was very smooth. I was able to complete check-in, bag drop, and security in about 25 minutes. The terminal still had a good amount of activity, including busy duty-free shops and restaurants, though not at peak levels compared to a few months ago.
The flight itself was a positive experience. We flew on the newer A350 instead of the usual A380. The updated entertainment system and Wi-Fi were noticeably improved. The economy cabin configuration (3-3-3) felt comfortable, and the crew provided good service, even leaving snacks available in the galley between meals. One thing to note is that our route was adjusted due to current conditions, which added roughly two hours to the journey, making the total flight time around 15 hours.
In terms of the overall environment in Dubai, it felt very normal on the ground. Despite what news coverage might suggest, daily life continued without disruption. I did receive several alerts on my phone during my stay, which were initially surprising but became routine over time. Throughout my visit, I never felt unsafe.
Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable travel experience, and I did not encounter any major concerns during the trip.
