Just had a rough experience flying Mumbai→Cairo on EgyptAir with an e-visa. My return was on Flynas, and a bunch of travelers told me EgyptAir might block boarding if your return isn’t with the same airline. I checked, and… they actually said yes they’d deny me. Claimed it was an immigration rule but refused to put anything in writing.
The Egypt embassy said that rule doesn’t exist and even emailed me. EgyptAir still insisted they could decide boarding on their own. I filed a complaint with DGCA, and at check-in they made me wait while managers checked everything, then finally let me through.
My friend flew the next day and they held him at the counter for 1.5 hours for the same thing. Another traveler was even forced to buy a new return ticket on the same airline and lost money.
Sharing this so people know: if you don’t have a US/UK/Schengen/Japan/Australia visa and you’re mixing Middle East carriers, double-check the rules ahead of time.
