Hello,
I’m planning a round trip from Singapore to Vancouver via Air Canada in order to earn miles toward my KrisFlyer Elite Gold.
While reviewing the accrual rules for Air Canada flights under KrisFlyer, I found the information a bit confusing regarding how elite miles are calculated.
On one hand, there is a chart that maps fare classes (alphabet booking classes) to specific accrual percentages. On the other hand, a note mentions that mileage accrual for Air Canada flights is determined by the fare option purchased, rather than the booking class itself. It also says the fare option can be viewed on the itinerary receipt if booked directly, but may not always be visible if booked through other channels.
Air Canada fare options such as Basic, Standard, and Flex do not seem to clearly correspond to the KrisFlyer accrual chart, which makes it difficult to estimate how many miles will be earned for these flights.
I am trying to understand how this actually works in practice, as it feels somewhat unclear or like a “black box” when trying to calculate expected mileage accrual.
If anyone has experience with earning KrisFlyer miles on Air Canada flights, I would appreciate any clarification on how the fare option translates into elite miles.
Thank you.
