E-upgrade on Latitude but waitlisted… no “R” space?

If you’re getting waitlisted even though the site shows e-upgrade space, it usually means there’s no “R” inventory available right now on that specific flight.

For Air Canada, instant e-upgrade confirmation into business requires “R” class availability. If there’s no R space, you’ll sit on the waitlist and it may clear closer to departure depending on loads and priority.

On the YVR–YYZ route, not every flight has lie-flat pods. You’ll want to look specifically for widebody aircraft (787, 777, sometimes A330). The narrowbody flights won’t have true lie-flat seats.

If you’re trying to rebook for better odds:

Look for widebody-operated flights

Check ExpertFlyer or similar tools for “R” availability

Try different times of day, midweek often has better upgrade space

If you don’t see R space, rebooking probably won’t change much unless you find a flight that’s clearly showing it.
