On the 10:40 DUB–BOS flight today with JetBlue. I arrived at the terminal about 85 minutes before departure, knowing the general recommendation is 3 hours early.
When I got there, nobody was at the check-in desk and I needed to check a bag. At Dublin Airport, JetBlue check-in is handled by Swissport. A Swissport staff member told me the desk closes 75 minutes before departure, but it was still around 80 minutes before departure at that point.
They sent me to Terminal 1 to the main Swissport desk, where I was basically told I had missed the cutoff and there was nothing they could do.
I ended up paying €280 to ship my bag via a nearby service and ran back to Terminal 2, just barely making it onto a nearly empty plane as boarding was closing.
My question is: since the check-in desk seems to have closed earlier than the stated cutoff, is there any recourse here? Should this be raised with JetBlue or Swissport?
Or is this just something I have to accept as a “lesson learned” and absorb the cost?
