Hi everyone,
I’m planning to fly with Emirates from Brussels Airport to Muscat this summer.
Instead of a short connection, I’m intentionally looking at a longer layover in Dubai (around 20 hours) so I can leave the airport, meet a friend, and explore the city before continuing to Oman.
My situation:
Pakistani passport holder
Student in Belgium with a valid EU residence permit
Also hold a valid 10-year Oman residency
Trip details:
Round trip ticket (Brussels → Muscat → Brussels)
Travel planned around mid-June to mid-August
I understand visa approvals are never guaranteed, but I wanted to ask if anyone has recent experience with UAE transit visas in similar situations.
Main questions:
Are Pakistani nationals still facing high rejection rates for UAE transit visas recently?
Does having an EU residence permit improve approval chances?
If I stay with a friend in Dubai, do I still need hotel booking proof?
Is it possible or useful to request assistance through Dubai Connect?
Would really appreciate any recent experiences or advice, especially from Pakistani students or residents in Europe or the Gulf.
