This is one of those trips that sounds fake until you read the details. 12,500km in 30 days, Munich to Beijing, fully electric. Sponsored, sure, but still a massive undertaking.
What stuck with me wasn’t even the charging logistics, it was everything around it. GPS blackouts in Russia, foreign cards completely useless, checkpoints, FSB scrutiny on the way out. Then China on the other end where the real pain was admin. Importing a foreign vehicle sounds like a nightmare, even for Chinese cars with foreign plates.
Eight days stuck in cities dealing with paperwork and delays, but still pulled it off. And the landscapes through Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Xinjiang sound incredible. Kind of wild that the old Silk Road route is now being tested with EVs.
This feels like one of those once in a lifetime trips you talk about forever.
