I was downgraded from business class to economy at the gate just a few minutes before boarding. I was told that I would receive a refund for the fare difference, so I submitted the request and recently received a response.
The refund amount offered was only $116, which feels surprisingly low. Considering the usual price gap between business and economy, I expected a much larger adjustment.
I am trying to understand whether this is standard airline procedure based on fare rules and ticket pricing, or if something may be missing from the calculation. Am I misunderstanding how these refunds typically work?
