This would annoy me too. Booked business class LHR to MUC for the first time, got downgraded to economy for “operational reasons,” and now Lufthansa is trying to sell lounge access for £50.
Yeah, EC261 gives a 30% refund, but that doesn’t really cover the experience side of things. You paid for business class perks like lounge access and better service, and now they’re basically asking you to buy them again.
Curious if anyone’s had luck getting lounge access honored anyway or extra miles as compensation in situations like this. Selling the benefits you already paid for just feels tone deaf.
