I am planning a trip to Mexico for a World Cup event and I am concerned about the possibility of a hotel being overbooked and me being relocated to another property on arrival.
I usually arrive quite late, around 9 PM, and I understand that in oversold situations the last guests to check in are sometimes the ones who get walked to another hotel.
My question is whether booking directly through the hotel, rather than using a third party booking site or intermediary, reduces the chances of this happening, or if it makes no real difference in practice.
Any insight would be appreciated.
