I have been on around 15 cruises previously, all with Royal Caribbean, and recently decided to try Princess Cruises on the Star ship.
Overall, I feel quite disappointed with the layout and flow of the ship. There seem to be many bottlenecks, limited open walkways, and confusing pathways with dead ends and areas that are not intuitive to navigate. I often find myself relying on the app to figure out directions rather than being able to easily move around the ship.
Some other observations include the lack of a central bar in certain areas like the casino, limited staff presence for service compared to what I am used to, and fewer open communal spaces. While the ship does have higher quality furnishings, slightly better food, and useful features like the medallion system, the overall experience feels less convenient and less engaging.
I also noticed differences in the gym facilities, bar service quality, and general ship design compared to Royal Caribbean ships, especially Oasis class ships which I prefer.
I am wondering if this experience is typical for Princess Cruises ships in general, or if this is specific to the Star ship. I am also considering trying Celebrity next, but I am unsure if the experience would be similar or different in terms of layout and overall flow.
