Diamond status doesn’t feel worth it anymore

I travel almost every week for work and my company’s travel policy isn’t great, so I rely pretty heavily on status to sit up front. I’ve been Diamond for three years now and honestly, it’s starting to feel pointless.

Flying cross country to LAX today. Diamond status, used a regional upgrade certificate, and still ended up in regular coach toward the back of the plane. There was one Comfort+ seat left and the gate agent gave it to someone else even though I was first on the upgrade list.

At that point, what’s the value anymore? Between the effort, spend, and loyalty, this just feels broken.

Curious if folks flying American or United are seeing the same thing, or if this is mostly a Delta problem. Right now it really feels like Delta has torched the value of its loyalty program.
