I’m currently traveling with American Airlines from LAX to Barbados, and the trip has been significantly disrupted. We were originally scheduled to arrive at our destination around 3 PM yesterday, but after boarding at midnight, we were deplaned at around 2:30 AM. This caused us to miss our connecting flights.
After that, we were rebooked on a longer rerouted itinerary via Phoenix and Miami, including an overnight stay. We eventually reached Miami the next evening, stayed overnight there, and boarded another flight to Barbados the following day. However, we were deplaned again around noon and are currently waiting for another replacement flight.
So far, the only compensation provided has been meal vouchers and hotel accommodation in Miami. No cash compensation has been offered. This disruption has shortened our overall trip by two days and caused repeated changes to our plans and activities.
I’m looking to understand what options are available in terms of compensation for this level of disruption and whether there is anything additional that can be requested in such situations.
