Booked a Malaysia Airlines ticket from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur that turned out to be operated by Qatar Airways. At check-in in Nairobi, they refused to check me in because my onward flight from Kuala Lumpur to Manila was on a different airline. I had all the documents and proof of onward travel, but still got denied.
Malaysia Airlines later told me that wasn’t a valid reason to refuse boarding, yet the system marked me as a no-show. Now they’re saying I need a denial confirmation from Qatar to avoid the no-show fee, but Qatar says Malaysia issued the ticket so it’s not their problem.
Has anyone dealt with this kind of codeshare mess before? I was physically there trying to check in, so being marked as a no-show feels wrong.
