We got denied boarding at the gate about a month ago flying back to London. Had seats, boarding passes, everything. Then suddenly told it was a “weight issue”. Later they admitted it was overbooking.
No BA staff to help, no number to call, nothing. We had to get home for work so we booked an easyJet flight ourselves.
Next day BA emailed saying we were denied boarding due to overbooking and that we’d get £350 compensation plus expenses. Great. Submitted the easyJet flight and food costs.
A month later they reply asking for the same info and talking about a delay from a destination we weren’t even at. Clarified again. Then they said they’d pay. A few hours later… another email saying the rerouting flight is a consequential loss and they won’t refund it.
Honestly the back and forth has been worse than the original denial.
Is CEDR the only real next step here? And is it worth flagging this to the CAA in the meantime?
