Just had one of the worst travel messes I’ve ever dealt with, all thanks to Delta. Showed up at SEA and they couldn’t find my reservation, they could see I had a legit ticket, but it wasn’t actually attached to me in their system. Had to rebuild my whole itinerary from scratch and I lost all the seats I paid extra for on the long-haul.
Then we missed our JFK connection by seven minutes after sitting on the runway in Seattle for “weather,” which was basically light drizzle. That kicked off a full domino effect. The help desk at JFK was rude and just shoved me onto a next-day flight with a 45-minute connection in Amsterdam, which obviously wasn’t going to work.
Next morning, another agent found an earlier flight with a longer layover that had been there all along.
Then in AMS, when I tried to board the final leg to Venice, the system said my ticket had been canceled. They had to reassign it on the spot and I lost my seat again. They also told me my luggage probably wouldn’t make it because the system didn’t even show I was supposed to be onboard.
No one could explain why any of this happened. Multiple cancellations, lost seats, missed connections, rude agents… just a total disaster.
Anyone know the best way to go after compensation with Delta for something this messy? This feels way beyond normal travel hiccups.
