Booked a round trip for my granddaughters and used a Delta companion certificate. Out of curiosity, I checked the price against buying a single ticket on the same flights.
The companion booking was about $70 more before taxes and fees. On top of that, I got hit with another $20 just so the girls could sit together. That part really annoyed me.
I’ve been Platinum for a while, but it still feels like Delta finds ways to nickel and dime anytime you’re not booking a Medallion ticket. Kind of defeats the point of a companion certificate if it costs more than a normal fare.
Is that $70 upcharge actually normal when using the companion cert, or did I just get unlucky?
