Honestly still a bit shaken after reading this.
Guy had a really important family reunion, one of those “might be the last time” situations. Delta cancels his outbound flight just hours before, no real rebooking help, long hold times, the usual chaos. So he panic-books Southwest for $1k just to make it.
Then while he’s literally on the plane, Delta suddenly finds an option… with a 6 hour layover. He says no and clearly tells them not to touch the return.
And somehow they still cancel his return flight.
That part got me. Like how does that even happen after being told multiple times not to cancel it?
Even worse, he spends the last day of the trip dealing with support instead of being with family. That’s the kind of thing you don’t get back.
They eventually fixed it, but way too late and after way too much stress.
Stuff like this is why I always get nervous relying on one airline for something important
