Posting this because I didn’t realize how specific this was and wasted time figuring it out.
If you’re trying to use the Delta gift card method for the Amex airline credit, apparently the order matters. You have to apply the gift card first and then charge the rest to the Amex.
I tried doing it on desktop where the credit card field comes before the gift card field, and it didn’t trigger anything. On the Delta app, the gift card input shows up first, and that’s what finally worked.
Kind of wild that such a tiny UI detail makes or breaks it. Definitely not a Nobel Prize moment, but figured I’d save someone else the headache.
