Delta Air Lines plans to use more AI to price tickets, but what data will it use?

Delta Air Lines is rolling out an AI-powered dynamic pricing system on approximately 20% of its domestic flights by the end of 2025, up from around 3%, in partnership with startup Fetcherr. The airline emphasizes that the AI analyzes aggregated market data—such as demand trends, booking patterns, and competition—not individual customer information—to support fare analysts in setting prices. Despite Delta’s assurances that it does not use personal or sensitive data to generate personalized fares, lawmakers and privacy advocates have voiced concerns about fairness, privacy, and the potential for discriminatory pricing. Delta has responded by reaffirming its “zero tolerance” policy for predatory pricing and stressing transparency in its process.
