We were originally on a 6pm flight but wanted to switch to 8am to spend more time with family. The same fare class wasn’t available for a free same-day change, so I called hoping to get on standby.
The Delta agent asked why we wanted to switch, and after I explained, he said he’d spread some holiday cheer and changed us for free. Plenty of open seats, so it didn’t cost the airline anything, but still such a kind gesture during the busy holiday season.
