Just wanted to share a data point in case anyone else is on the fence about this challenge. It actually worked.
I was pretty skeptical, but I really wanted Platinum so I could travel with my dog without paying $99 each way. That adds up fast.
I already had Gold, which helped since I could cancel trips up to 7 days out as a backup. I contacted customer service and they basically said they had no visibility into the personalized offer, which wasn’t reassuring. Because of that, I hedged and booked 5 round trips under the general offer instead.
Of course, things went a little sideways. A winter storm forced me to reschedule one of the trips.
Today I completed trip number 3. No email, no notification, nothing. About an hour after landing I checked the app and boom… Platinum status showed up.
A win is a win. Platinum plus a GoWild pass is going to be a great combo.
