D Line Subway almost ready

It’s really happening: trains are finally running under Wilshire again and the first leg of the D Line extension is nearly finished. They’ve hit 98% completion on Section 1, which adds new stations at La Brea, Fairfax, and La Cienega and it sounds like the tech systems, crossovers, and new trains are deep in testing. Official opening is still slated for fall, but you can tell from the lunch celebrations and removal of the soundwalls that the end is near.

Kinda wild to think this all started with Measure R 17 years ago. I remember people joking about the Subway to the Sea never actually getting built. Now it’s real or at least close. Anyone planning to check out the new stations once they open?
