We paid about 48 dollars per person after tip for a cupcake decorating class on a Royal Caribbean cruise, but the experience felt underwhelming. In the end, we only made a single cupcake that would normally take just a few minutes to prepare, yet the session lasted around 45 minutes.
A family member who had done this activity on a previous cruise said there used to be more variety and actual icing decoration, instead of the fondant-style materials we used this time. The activity felt unnecessarily stretched out.
This was especially disappointing compared to a similarly priced sushi making class we also attended, where we prepared several types of rolls and stayed actively engaged the whole time.
Overall, the cupcake class did not feel like good value.
