Critiquing the in Vogue restaurants in CN Traveller

Been bouncing around Mykonos for years, and CN Traveller just dropped their latest “Best Restaurants” list. Read it here if you want the glossy version:

A few hot takes from someone who’s been burned (and delighted) here more than once:

Beefbar (Agios Ioannis) – Great sunset, chic crowd, Wagyu everything. Google Maps gives it ~4.4 but the reviews are all over the place. Some rave about the fries and cocktails; others get cold sides and disinterested service. My verdict: go for the view, not a culinary epiphany.

Nobu Matsuhisa – Still the celebrity sushi spot. You’re paying for the name and the scene. Quality is consistent enough, but if you’ve been to another Nobu, you know exactly what you’re getting.

Zuma – Izakaya-meets-DJ-lounge. Fun if you want a party with your dinner. Not remotely Mykonian, and you’ll pay top dollar for the branding.

M-Eating – The antidote to the above. Local chef, Cycladic ingredients, proper Greek hospitality. The kind of place you actually remember a year later.

Rizes – Farm-to-table inland “village” setup. You’ll need a car or taxi. Fantastic if you want to escape the beach club circus and eat something that tastes like Greece.

Nero Nero & Spilia – Two ultra-romantic heavy hitters. Nero Nero is literally one table over the water; Spilia is a cave with seafood. Great for proposals, but you’re not coming here for value.

To Maereio / Kalita – Tiny taverna classics and unfussy modern Greek, respectively. These are the spots you’ll wish you booked twice.

Bottom line: CN Traveller’s list is fine if you’re after Instagram and champagne budgets. Mix in at least half your meals at the small, local places or you’ll leave thinking Mykonos is just Beefbar with a beach.

Who’s eaten at these lately? Any hidden gems still flying under the radar ?
