My mother and I recently flew from Dallas to Hong Kong in business class, and her experience wasn’t great. I’m wondering if it’s even worth reaching out to Cathay Pacific about it.
Her seat had several issues. The power outlet didn’t work for the entire flight, and the seat wouldn’t fully recline. A flight attendant actually had to take part of the seat apart to adjust it, but even after that it still didn’t go completely flat.
The complimentary Wi-Fi also didn’t work for most of the flight and only connected during the last few hours of what was a 16 hour journey.
Service wasn’t great either. She was consistently served last for meals even though we were seated in the middle of the business class cabin. For breakfast she had to ask a flight attendant for it, and when it finally arrived it was the wrong meal.
On top of that, her checked suitcase was damaged and can’t be used anymore. It wasn’t an expensive bag, but it had survived plenty of other flights without issues.
My mom would never complain about something like this, but since the tickets cost around $7,000 I feel like the experience should have been better. I’ve flown business class to Asia on several airlines and haven’t seen this many problems on one flight.
Do complaints like this usually go anywhere, or is it not worth contacting the airline?
