A few days ago, I asked for advice on which room to choose, and for anyone wondering, the garden view was definitely worth it.
I was in town for a conference, but my wife and I arrived a day early to attend the funeral of a close friend in Virginia. Unfortunately, our flight from ATL to DCA was canceled because of bad weather. We understood that these things happen and are beyond anyone's control. We rebooked on a 7:40 a.m. flight so we could make it to the 10:30 a.m. service, but that flight was delayed until 10:00 a.m., causing us to miss the funeral entirely.
Despite us not arriving the previous night, the hotel kept our reservation. When we checked in, the front desk associate asked about the reason for our visit. My wife shared what had been a difficult and emotional past 12 hours, and we headed to our room after dropping off our bags.
After returning from lunch, we found a thoughtful note and a small gift waiting for us. It wasn't the value of the gift that mattered, it was the kindness and compassion behind the gesture. The note brought tears to my wife's eyes.
A heartfelt thank you to the Conrad DC team for recognizing what we were going through and finding a way to bring a little comfort and a smile during such a difficult time.
