I was originally booked on British Airways flight BA297 from London Heathrow to Chicago on March 28. The departure time was first 14:15, later changed to 15:45.
The day before departure, multiple sources (including Heathrow’s departures page and other flight tracking sites) showed the flight as cancelled. When I called the airline, the agent also confirmed it was cancelled and rebooked me onto a flight the next day. I even received an upgrade on the replacement flight.
However, I later discovered online discussions suggesting the flight may have simply been retimed back to the original earlier departure time and actually operated as normal.
Now I’m confused because I was officially told it was cancelled and rebooked, but it may have actually flown. I ended up arriving a day late and losing a hotel night, and I’m wondering whether I still have any valid compensation claim or what actually happened operationally.
