Confused about who actually gets into United Clubs now

I swear the access rules keep changing. Flew domestic first last week no lounge access. But on my return from Europe in business, I got into the Polaris Lounge without a problem. Then I heard even some day-pass holders are being turned away at busy times. Between memberships, cards, and flight types, it’s hard to keep track.
