Trying to plan a warm trip using my 5 free 60k nights from the IHG credit card offer and I’m getting really confused by what I’m seeing.
I found a property where the first page says credit card free night not available and shows a cash rate around $334 a night plus $30 in fees. But it still lets me select the free night. On the next page it even shows 4 nights free with just $30 per day in fees, so like $120 total.
What’s throwing me off is that if I look at normal point redemptions, the same room shows 196k points per night, or 96k points plus $599 per night. That seems insane and makes me worry I’m missing something and will get hit with a huge charge later.
I thought the free night certs were capped at 60k. Has anyone booked something like this before? Is it really that cheap or is this one of those things that looks good until checkout?
