I noticed that a Carnival cruise promotion offering $500 onboard credit has returned, so I checked the pricing for a cruise I was already considering (a Halloween sailing). I was comparing it with my existing booking to understand the deal better.
However, it looks like to qualify for this offer you have to effectively pay $500 upfront to receive $500 onboard credit, along with a small discount like 25% off select add-ons such as spa or drink packages.
I don’t understand the value in this since it seems like you are just breaking even on the credit while only getting a minor extra discount. It also looks like the previous version of the promotion that included a drink package is no longer available.
Am I misunderstanding how this works, or is the promotion actually structured this way?
