I’m planning to travel by National Express coach from the Midlands to London Heathrow and back in May, and it will be my first time using this service with a suitcase. I’ve read that luggage is stored in the compartment beneath the coach, and the journey includes multiple stops along the route.
I’m concerned about how secure the luggage is during these stops. Specifically, I’m wondering what prevents another passenger from taking my suitcase at an earlier stop, and whether there is any process in place—such as driver checks or luggage tags, to ensure bags are matched to their owners.
I’ve also considered whether it would be appropriate to get off at each stop to keep an eye on my luggage, but I’m unsure if that is practical or necessary.
While I’ve seen a few reports of luggage being taken, I’m not sure how common this issue actually is. I would appreciate insights from those with experience using National Express coaches on how luggage security is typically handled.
