I recently renewed my British passport after some delays, and it was eventually approved and issued. However, I noticed an observation note printed in the passport that I have never had before.
The note references my second nationality (Palestinian) and also appears to be related to a mismatch between the names used on my different passports. This has left me worried about whether it could create problems when I travel.
To explain the background, I was born British but also hold Palestinian nationality. My name was changed by deed poll in the UK when I was very young, so the names on my UK documents and Palestinian documents do not fully match, although they are similar. My brother is in a similar situation, and we applied for renewal at the same time, but his passport does not include this observation.
I was not informed in advance that such a note would be added, so I was surprised to see it when I received the passport.
I’m mainly concerned about whether this observation could cause issues at border control or during international travel.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or knows how strictly these kinds of passport remarks are treated during travel?
