I booked a flight to Morocco back in December and ran into what seems to be a classic Iberia double charge issue.
At first, I didn’t immediately cancel or dispute it with my bank because I couldn’t tell which charge was the duplicate, and I had read that disputing the wrong one could cancel the actual ticket. Since then, I’ve been trying to resolve it directly with Iberia.
Over the past months, I’ve called customer service repeatedly from both Canada and the US, submitted multiple support tickets, and tried every contact method I could find. Each time I reach out, I get different answers like “only your bank can fix it,” “don’t involve the bank,” “send an email,” or “ask the bank to call us.”
I’ve also been given multiple ticket numbers for the same issue, but none of them seem to lead anywhere or reference the previous ones.
My bank now says they can’t reverse anything because the dispute window has passed, unless Iberia provides a written statement confirming they won’t penalize the bank if the duplicate charge is reversed. I passed that on to Iberia and haven’t received any meaningful response.
More recently, I tried contacting them through Instagram since I heard responses are faster there. They do reply, but it still feels like I’m going in circles without any real resolution.
At this point I’m just frustrated. I booked this trip to see family I haven’t seen in years, and now most of my time has been spent trying to fix this billing issue instead.
Has anyone dealt with something similar with Iberia or managed to actually get a resolution on a double charge?
