I’m required to travel domestically to Riyadh for work, which I’m okay with as long as the arrangements are reasonable. However, my company has a policy of double occupancy, meaning I have to share a room with a coworker. In this case, it’s not even a hotel but an apartment they’ve rented, and the conditions don’t look great.
I’m uncomfortable sharing a room with someone I don’t really know, both for personal and cultural reasons, especially since I need proper rest to be ready for work the next day. The company says it’s policy and done to save costs.
I’m considering asking for a housing allowance instead so I can arrange my own accommodation closer to the office, since their current place is over an hour away. I’m wondering if that’s a reasonable request and what my options are in this situation
