Many people know that using a companion voucher with British Airways can unlock additional business class reward seats, often influenced by ticket pricing.
I recently added a feature for companion voucher searches in my iOS app and decided to analyze how much extra availability this actually provides across different routes.
The results showed that some routes benefit significantly. For example, flights from London (LHR) to Dubai had a huge increase in available seats when using a voucher, with far more options compared to standard searches. Routes like Mumbai and Vancouver also showed strong improvements.
For routes such as New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, the increase was smaller but still noticeable, typically adding a few extra seats per day.
Overall, the data suggests that companion vouchers can significantly improve reward seat availability on certain routes, especially where standard availability is very limited.
